[MUSIC][VIDEO] BROCKHAMPTON – JUNKY

If you haven’t heard Brockhampton yet, you should.

Quickly gaining popularity, the 15 person collective had to add a late show in NYC and has already sold out in Boston. Funny enough the group grew in numbers when they recruited new members from KanyeToThe. They started out online, then they moved in together in Texas, and are now living together in South Central.

The collective stands for self expression and is a creative powerhouse as they have their own members producing, rapping, singing, directing, managing, and building their web platform.

Their upcoming project SATURATION II is a follow-up to June’s SATURATION.

Check out their latest release JUNKY below.

Here’s SATURATION:

[MUSIC][VIDEO] JAY-Z – THE STORY OF O.J.

So Hov is back.

A lot of people wrote him off due to being 47 in the rap game and allegedly having nothing to rap about…

…well he came back with some of the arguably most relevant/conscious work of his career. I wasn’t even a Jay-Z fan before this but this album along with a nifty Tidal free trial let me dig through his old works. Brooklyn’s Finest is one of my new old favorites now!

Just peep this video for the stand out track (and now single), The Story of O.J.

[MUSIC] [VIDEO] [NEW] KENDRICK LAMAR – HUMBLE

Oh man oh man, it’s Kendrick season?!?! After dropping The Heart Pt. 4 he drops Humble which we hope is off his next album which we hope is dropping April 7th.

April 7th would be cool because Tupac is also being post-humously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that day.

If you’re sleeping on either track..what are you doing?

[MUSIC][VIDEO] Young Thug – Wyclef Jean

I recently embarked on a great journey – I call it: An Expedition Through Thugger.

I watched Alex Tumay’s great talk here. I listened to the Slime Seasons. I watched interviews. I read reviews. I sat on on rapgenius for a while. I wondered if horses keep going. I wondered what it was like to have 12 kids. I really felt like I was starting to understand Young Thug(which is really hard).

I love that this video really showcases the ‘behind the scenes’ aspect of a rap video. There are so many hours and dollars poured into what ends up only being 2-4 mins of footage and the average viewer rarely thinks about what went into making it. This video falls directly in line with my want to showcase the producers and directors behind our favorite songs/videos.

But anway, here’s wonderwall Young Thug’s new video which only features about 0:10 actual footage of him, Wyclef Jean. Ryan Staake is a creative genius with a good sense of humor. To be fair I guess Thugger is too if he let this video be published on his behalf.

Enjoy.

[MUSIC][VIDEO] Travis Scott – biebs in the trap

Travis is back at it with the dope visuals. What caught people’s eyes originally was the Lights video that he put together himself back in 2012. This was the beginning of him meeting with TI and Kanye and started a career that doesn’t look like it will stop any time soon.

Travis and Canadian artist NAV have fun with a lambo in an empty aircraft hanger in this ode to cocaine. The ending scene of the video confirms it if you’re really that dense.

The way they get the car to whip around is mesmerizing and with the lights, well, you can see for yourself.
